Hi guys,
after now 3 past days I'm speaking up again.
The Australian summer has really hit us. The weather here is currently around 36 degrees on average, and with the added humidity, it's not really comfortable anymore.
After we left Airlie Beach, we headed south again.
I really liked the place, a small nice town in a fantastic natural setting with friendly locals.
It was time for me to go to the hairdresser again and then we moved on.
Our next stop was Cape Hillsborough. We spent the night at the same campsite as last time when we stayed there. However, it was a short night because the alarm went off around 4 am.
But of course, there was a reason for that. Today we witnessed what Cape Hillsborough is actually famous for. You can watch kangaroos on the beach at sunrise, and we had to see that!
I have never been on the beach at 4:50 am in my life, but it was definitely worth it!
With the sunrise in the background, about 20 kangaroos were searching for food on the beach. It was an amazing sight!
After taking a few pictures and seeing the kangaroos hop back into the forest, we took a short morning walk along the beach and enjoyed the time. These are definitely the moments and experiences I enjoy so much while traveling and they drive me to keep going. That's why I'm motivated to sleep in a tent with no mattress, no fridge, no shower, and no toilet when it's 30 degrees at night. These moments make it all worth it.
We spent the rest of the day traveling south, all the way to Mackay, where we finally found some relief from the heat. It was 38 degrees, so we mainly spent the day wandering around shopping malls and supermarkets. In the evening, we went to the public pool and took a cold shower.
Once again, we spent the night at a makeshift campsite, which is similar to a typical rest area.
Woken up by the heat, we quickly packed up in the morning and drove back to the city.
Currently, we are still looking for a job, so it's a bit challenging to travel because the job could be either north or south, and the distances here in Australia are known to be a bit larger.
So we spent the day in Mackay again and made ourselves as comfortable as possible.
In the evening, we went to the most beautiful campsite we have been to so far.
We drove along a road that we could only take because we have a 4x4 and a large car. We drove over rocks and stones along a peninsula. At the end of the peninsula was our campsite for the night.
We found a spot in the middle of a hill where we have the most incredible view to sleep to, imagine!
Surrounded by water, on one side the open sea with a few islands, and on the other side, a bay with a mountain range in the background.
We had a nice dinner and after watching the sunset behind the mountains, we went to bed!
These are the moments I'm talking about!
Greetings from Notch Point, Australia!🇦🇺
Your Tim!😊
