We immediately flew to Santiago de Chile with LAN. The flight took about 2 hours. After arriving, our car was already waiting for us. We went straight to Valparaiso, where we booked our first night at Boutique Hotel 17.
The hotel is not easy to find and not easily accessible with a large Toyota Four Runner. Valparaiso is built on the surrounding mountains and the streets are extremely steep. To save people from walking up these steep streets, there are elevators that take you up. However, they don't look very trustworthy. Valparaiso looked very picturesque at first glance, with its small winding alleys and beautifully painted house walls. In fact, people are sitting everywhere in the streets and painting. Most of the paintings on the houses are true works of art. By the way, everything is painted...house walls, lamp posts, trash cans...On closer inspection, you can see how run-down a lot of things are. There are many stray dogs and the smell in the streets is not very pleasant.
