How we had been waiting for this moment. Finally back in Asia, finally everything cheap again, although Singapore unfortunately falls out of this. It is certainly cheaper than in Germany, but not as cheap as in other Asian countries. After not having the best memories of our last stopover in Singapore, we gave the city a second chance. And what can I say, it was worth it!!
Compared to the rest of Asia, Singapore cannot be compared. The city is a world of its own. Everywhere you read that Singapore is "Softasia", but I would even claim that this city is safer than, for example, Frankfurt or Berlin.
We arrived at the airport in the morning and took the subway to our Airbnb. The room was very small, but very clean and even had its own bathroom (accommodation in Singapore is really expensive). The first thing we did after checking in, of course, was to eat. I couldn't wait to finally eat the delicious vegetables with oyster sauce and rice again. The rest of the day we strolled through the city and finally went to one of the most famous hotels in the world, the Marina Bay Sands. I have to admit, the sight of the three towers and the surfboard on the roof was incredible. We had googled for fun how much a room would cost, unfortunately even the storage room probably exceeds our budget^^
The next day we visited the Garden by the Bay, Chinatown and strolled through the streets. I have never seen such a clean, orderly and harmonious city in the world, and that in Asia of all places.
Unfortunately, my stomach spoiled my good mood. It seems that we have to get used to Asian food again....
The next day we found out by chance that today is National Parade Day 2018. Directly on the shore opposite Marina Bay, there is a huge stage on which the national parade took place. There was a military parade with soldiers, ships, helicopters and as a highlight, several fighter jets flew in different formations over the crowds of people, making a hell of a noise. The rumbling went through the whole body and it tingled everywhere. The sight was simply overwhelming and it was really cool to be able to experience something like this live. To crown it all, there was a fireworks display over the water.
Singapore is definitely worth a visit and will stay in my memory forever!!!
Now we are going to Myanmar for two weeks. During our last Asia trip, I strictly refused to travel to this country. But after having such bad luck in Australia, I promised Jonas to fulfill this wish for him, if we plan everything in advance. Therefore, I am now pretty excited but also very curious about what awaits us in this very non-touristy country=)
