We have completed the first two stages and took a rest day in San Mateo today to acclimatize to the altitude. The way out of Lima was terrible. The traffic was horrible and we were constantly stuck in traffic jams. There are many minibusses and tuktuks that stop at the roadside and continue without signaling. Even after 40 km, the traffic did not decrease. There were a lot of trucks on the road and unfortunately there is no shoulder, but instead a very deep rain gutter that you don't want to get into. Honking is popular and extensive.... On the first day, we didn't get as far as we thought, but ended up in a nice, lively town. The people are very friendly and there are many restaurants and always something vegetarian so far. Last night, as we were eating, about 20 construction workers stormed into the (very small) restaurant. It was really funny. Tomorrow we continue to Chicla and hopefully over the first pass. Best regards, hasta luego!
