We're on a beautiful loop that goes around Thakhek. The first day was quite exhausting. Kai was feeling a bit sick and the heat is unusual. We haven't been biking over 100km or at all in the last few weeks... The food has been great so far. However, for lunch the day before yesterday, we only had sticky rice (cold sticky rice formed into balls and eaten with everything). The vegetarian options were limited... At least the nice lady understood us because when we asked for eggs, vegetables, noodles, or soup, she shook her head. Rice? Yes, she nodded vigorously.
Yesterday, we visited Kong Lor Cave, but we took a bus that was a tuk-tuk😂. It was a superb landscape and an impressive boat ride through a 7km-long cave. However, it was very, very dark inside the cave😄. Today, we continued through an area with a massive reservoir that flooded the entire valley, resulting in some very bizarre views.
Tomorrow, we'll continue. Unfortunately, not the way we would like to because a different location is stated on the visa and it cannot be changed. This means going around or taking a road that Google doesn't know to reach the LaoBao border crossing (I'm against it🤔, the unknown road)
Warm greetings to everyone at home from Sonja and Kai
