This morning another hotel change was scheduled and the drive to the national park. The days when hotel changes are scheduled do not allow for bigger plans. Check out and check in take up half of the day, but I arrived around noon and the plan was to take a boat trip to the Grey Lake to see the large glacier and back.
When I saw on site that both buying tickets was inconvenient (instead of buying them at the boat, you have to buy them at a hotel about 40 minutes away), extremely expensive ($110 US dollars), and only bored tourists were on the boat, I discarded the plan and rather explored the lake on foot to the viewpoints where hardly anyone was. The view of the glacier with ice floating on the water was, as always, magnificent, and today I learned that everything we call wind in Hesse is just a gentle breeze...
