This morning the rooster woke me up at 5:50.

You sleep well under the mosquito net 😊.

In the morning it is pleasantly cool here. About 14 degrees. (By the way, the bird sounds are also different here)

After a morning walk and breakfast, I went to church. There is a Catholic community on the hospital grounds. The mass started at 8 o'clock. At first, it was only a quarter full. It filled up completely during the service. (especially the women's side was well filled with women and children)

After about 50 minutes, I left the mass because the sermon in Chiwewa was a bit long for me. 😉

Later, Charlotte and I went for a run (on very dusty paths). Field workers and cyclists greet everyone friendly. Unfortunately, most people cannot speak English. 😔 (By the way, the mass was still going on when we passed by!!)

This noon, we visited the hospital. Unfortunately, the office is not staffed today, so we couldn't unpack our materials yet.

At noon, we went to Namitondo village, met nice people, and did some shopping.

The conditions here are already shocking. I didn't imagine it would be so poor. Most people live in simple mud huts.

But life mostly takes place outside. There are small stalls set up everywhere in the village, where people offer various services or sell something. In the hustle and bustle, many children and animals (chickens, goats, wild boars) run around.

The conditions in the hospital are adventurous as well. But that's already great for Malawi.

Photos can't convey the conditions (only videos a bit, but they still lack the smell and warmth).

There is so much to write. More later.

This evening we went to the village to watch a football match.

It was Namitondo against the neighboring village. The game was not very interesting, but the "surroundings" were nice. We were the attraction, especially for the children. "Azungo, Azungo" we were surrounded.

But a very little baby got scared when it saw us and started crying (probably it has never seen a white person before).

But everyone was very friendly to us!!

The playing field is marked with sticks. The children also play on the field at times. 😊. There was even a referee and a singing and dancing group of women who cheered on the team.
