Hello there,
As announced yesterday, I started early this morning with a kayak tour on Loch Lean, the largest of the three lakes in Killarney National Park. And so, after breakfast, I made my way through the park to the national park, where I had a very surprising encounter with a deer. During the tour, we had very different conditions, as we had to row against the wind and strong waves on one side, and the other side of the lake was sheltered by a large island and therefore very calm. It was a bit cozier there, but of course, there was also less action. Our guide was very nice and told us a lot about the geological formation of Loch Lean and the different rocks (primarily limestone, sandstone, and a bit of quartz), as well as the history of Ross Castle. By the way, we also saw a heron and a few cormorants.
In the afternoon, I spent my time dragging my backpack to the train station and then had a 5-hour train ride to Waterford. Unfortunately, there aren't so many photos today because I couldn't take my phone with me while kayaking, and the interior of Irish regional trains is not very remarkable. But luckily, the deer from the morning is documented. And there's also a sunset in Waterford.
See you tomorrow,
Veronika
