After a 3-hour journey with Uber, Trotro (minibus), and taxi, Julia and I joined the others. They had already arrived the day before: 18 medical students, 2 English, 16 Germans! I would have liked to have more nationalities involved so that I can improve my English again, but now we mostly speak German among ourselves. What I have also learned is that only 7 students stay in Accra, the others have either already flown home today or will fly soon. It's really a pity!
So the festival took place in Nkwakwa, with a lot of music, dancing, and drinking. It was not a typical cultural festival, but rather an accumulation of radios with huge speakers. It can be compared a bit to the "Em Bebbi sy Jazz" festival in Basel (except that the music was not played here on its own): in every street, everywhere, and everyone has a different music playing and it was super crowded! But the atmosphere was great! Unfortunately, I don't have any photos of this because it was said that a lot is being stolen.
The highlight: Paragliding!! For 250 Cedi (about 50€) I could also visit the country from the air. Pictures of the flight are still coming! It was a lot of fun and an amazing experience! Pilots from all over the world (Peru, Japan, USA, etc) traveled to Ghana to give the people at the festival a great view. The money goes to help the children of Okwahu and the surrounding area. In addition, there was an area where these people could directly see a doctor and receive treatment. But we didn't have to help there.
My first working day starts on Tuesday at 8 o'clock - I'm very excited! So I have another day off tomorrow, but I don't know yet what we will do.
As you can see, I'm doing pretty well. Many new impressions, but most of them are very positive!
