Short visit to Kuala Lumpur

Naipablaak: 09.02.2019

We are only in Kuala Lumpur for one day, and half of it we spend planning for the Philippines. Because Chinese New Year is approaching and we are a little worried that the great hotels are already fully booked and we have to share the most beautiful places in the world with many, many people. The preparations for Chinese New Year are already in full swing, which can be seen from the decorations with red lanterns in practically all public areas of the larger cities we visited recently. We are curious to see how it will be and hope that when the time comes, we can witness dragon dances.

In Kuala Lumpur, we sleep at the Verdant Hotel, which tempts us to make a lot of "verdant" word jokes. The hotel is a pretty tall building and has a "verdant" great pool on the sixth floor, where we can swim around a little in the midst of the skyscrapers. In general, Kuala Lumpur has a pretty great skyline and often we walk with our heads up and our eyes focused upwards through the streets. Of course, we also visit the famous Petronas Towers (they "verdantly" shine impressively in the evening light and shimmer in white at night). And otherwise? Of course, this is a big city and it is comparatively exhausting. At least there are sidewalks to walk on and the city is kept quite busy and successfully clean. We visit the few sights and visit the world's largest mall, which houses more than 1000 stores and even has a roller coaster running through it! We have never seen anything like it. In general, the malls seem to be piling up here, how many have we passed by? In Kuala Lumpur, we are suddenly seized by a longing for Thailand - especially for the food and the massages, so we spontaneously go to a Thai restaurant twice and enjoy curries, morning glory and papaya salad, and then indulge in a wonderful Thai massage. Wonderful! One day in the city is enough for us - so we head to the airport, because now we deviate from our previous logical route and fly quite far north - to the Philippines. We are tempted by the wonderful beaches and the thoughts of diving and windsurfing so much that we will stay for three weeks! Let's go!
