October 25th

Ebipụtara: 25.10.2018

Today we drove along the coast from Picton to Nelson. The weather was amazing. You could really stop every few hundred meters along this coastal road to take photos. And that's exactly what we did, as you can see. The speed limit on this road is 50km/h, but most of the time you can only drive at 30 to 40 km/h to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

One more thing about the TOP 10 Holiday Parks:

This chain is really good, especially if you can get one with the 'superior' addition. The toilets and showers are very clean. The staff is always very friendly. The one we stayed at today even had a pool and a spa. As members, we also get extra Wi-Fi capacity. And we got a 15% discount on the ferry fare (about 60 dollars!).

So, highly recommended. We arrived at the Nelson City TOP 10 Campsite at around 2:30 pm and rented a cottage with its own bathroom, bed, and kitchenette for two nights. It's a 25-minute walk to the city center. It's lightly raining. In Picton, I bought a large plastic tub. It's now upside down on the roof of the camper. The cover of the skylight flew off right at the beginning. This morning, I took a closer look at the whole thing. Our roof is permanently open. That explains why we were a little cold a few times. If it had rained here, the disaster would have been quickly apparent because the rain would have soaked our bed. Well, a little luck is part of life. I guess I'll have to call the rental company after all. Let's see what solution they can offer. But not today.

Nelson is the city where Stephanie's cousin Wonnie used to live. She passed away from cancer a few years ago. Her two sons live in Europe, one in London and the other in Limburgerhof, which is only 8 km away from our home. We don't know if Wonnie's ex-husband still lives here. By the way, this small town stands out pleasantly from all the cities we've visited so far. Nice streets with many tree-lined avenues, nice shops and restaurants. There's even an Italian restaurant. Roberto greeted us in German and asked us where we were from. He's from Lake Garda himself and married a woman from here.

The food at Roberto's was delicious.
