We are awakened today by the sound of raindrops relentlessly dripping on the caravan. It's wet and uncomfortable outside. The four of us snuggle up in our sleeping nook and start the day cozy.
We have breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa and dress in waterproof clothes (especially the children). When the weather improves around noon, we decide to stick to our original plan and go to Schönbrunn. Marik is excited about the many puddles he jumps around in, and we are very grateful to have the rubber boots with us.
We take a look at Schönbrunn Palace from the outside and explore the park, including the beautiful roses.
We climb the hill and are rewarded with a wonderful view of Vienna and the palace.
We spend the afternoon there and have a snack before going to Tiergarten Schönbrunn. The oldest zoo in the world, as we learn today.
Afterwards, we drive back to the campsite, take a short break, and then go back to the city for a schnitzel dinner. Unfortunately, it wasn't an authentic Viennese schnitzel as we had hoped, but it's still very delicious, and especially Marik and Leo have a big appetite. For dessert, we have a very tasty, typical Viennese treat consisting of a kind of poppy seed dumpling. We park at the Vienna Opera House, where a performance is currently taking place. As we walk back to the car, we see that the opera is being broadcast live on a big screen.
We stop briefly, but then start heading home as the children are already very tired.
