Venedig or the way there

Ebipụtara: 13.04.2022

From Verona, we drove to the east of Venice to Punta Sabbioni. Here we could refill gas. What we only knew on site was that there are about 30 campsites here. These were already relatively well attended. A very beautiful place if you want to stay longer. The pitches are partly directly by the sea.

While we were on the way, we already noticed that it was getting quite windy. The whole thing developed into a really heavy storm, so we decided to stay at the beach there. A beautiful view of the sea and Venice. The storm raged all night with rain and thunderstorms. So it was the right decision. The next morning, the weather was beautiful again and we went jogging and swimming with the dogs. So we were able to make our way to Venice.

It was Palm Sunday, which we didn't know. We also didn't know that on this day all Italians go to the city and go to church. We had chosen a parking space outside and walked the 2km into the city. It was incredibly busy. We knew that Venice is the city with the most bridges, but not that these bridges all have stairs as well. One thing was clear, the next day we would go to the city without a stroller. The streets were so narrow in places that we could hardly get through with the buggy. But simply beautiful. We had a great meal away from the tourists and strolled through the city. In St. Mark's Square, we had a small Aperol Spritz. And then we took the water taxi back towards our parking space. A successful day. We decided to go to the city again the next day. This time with the baby carrier. According to Google, there was a great café for breakfast, so we went there. Thanks to Google Maps, we were able to navigate in the city at all. The breakfast was fantastic and afterwards we took a great gondola ride that took us to the Grand Canal. Here we noticed again that the city was full of tourists. The Rialto Bridge was again packed, but by now we knew that if we went down a side street, we would be outside of the crowd again. Venice is worth a visit. A city that cannot be compared to any other.
