Today we changed countries and time zones and drove from Costa Rica to Panama.
There we anchored in front of the Coiba archipelago, which is protected and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Until 2004, there was still a prison on the island in which dangerous prisoners and those imprisoned for political reasons were held.
Today the island is uninhabited, apart from the rangers responsible for its protection.
Right on the beach you can still find the ruins of a house that an American lived in in the 1970s.
We had two hours to enjoy the beautiful beach, cool off in the warm water and snorkel.
On land there were many small crabs running through the sand, looking like small stones as they hid in their houses.
Since the island is protected, we were only allowed to go to the beach in groups of a maximum of 30 people and then had two hours there
Stay.
In the afternoon there was an extra snorkeling tour where the underwater world could be discovered from a boat.
In the evening we enjoyed the sunset on the deck of the ship as we continued sailing along the coast of Panama.
