Ten days in paradise

I'm happy. The days are just flying by and every other day I book two more nights with Booking. It's cheaper than extending on site because I can redeem 15 euro vouchers from other travelers and both they and I get 15 euros refunded after the stay. Very clever, so I pay a lot less.

I let myself drift. Sometimes I have breakfast at the resort on the beach and sometimes I skip it in favor of a lunch at a small street food stall in the middle of the village. For 70 baht (1.88 euros) you can get a complete meal from the delicious Thai cuisine and for 60 baht the most delicious smoothies in the world. The fruits are so ripe, sweet, and tasty that it's hard to choose a variety, watermelon, coconut-banana-pineapple, mango-passion fruit... Everything is possible and available.


The sun shines periodically. I try to take advantage of it.It's often cloudy. Then the sea looks like the North Sea. Well, almost. Haha. Here's a video: https://splice.gopro.com/v?id=4bzmn9


It storms heavily for two days, so the red flags are raised. And indeed, the waves are so strong that they knock me off my feet and I feel the strong undertow trying to pull me into the sea. Here's a little video: https://splice.gopro.com/v?id=x2ED2m
Okay, then I guess I have to skip swimming. I promised to pay more attention to safety than I normally would. I use the time to write the Hong Kong posts
or enjoy the view with pizza and wine during happy hour.
In the evening, I have local cuisine recommended at Again & Again. The Mamita of the house runs the restaurant completely alone, from taking orders and cooking to washing up, and how she manages to do that earns my respect. I pass the time with a cold Chang and photo editing. Going well!


On the last evening, I absolutely have to eat at the JIP-Shop, the best restaurant on the island for me. I bravely try a dish whose name I can't imagine at all: Morning Glory Chicken. Morning Glory turns out to be a fresh mixture of green beans and spinach fried in a pan with garlic, onion, and chili. Very delicious.
No matter where and when I ate, I always enjoy the walk back on the beach. Feet in the waves, the sound of the waves in my ears, and the lights of the bay in my eyes. That's the true paradise. Today there's a wedding at the neighboring resort. Not bad.
My resort is located at the very end. It's wonderfully quiet here and oftentimes I'm the only one here. So I can choose whether to lie in the hammock and read or edit photos, whether to make myself comfortable on the swing with cola & rum and watch Netflix, or to sit in the cozy beach bar.
