Soaking wet - thanks for the rainforest

Hoʻopuka ʻia: 24.08.2018

Since the last blog entry, we have changed our location again. Our goal was/is a remote hostel somewhere in the rainforest. We were supposed to take a motorbike taxi there because apparently no cars can make it up there. But then a Colombian at the hostel said he could drive us there. And bam, we were sitting in the same crappy 'car' as back when we drove to the beach. A Dutchman and two Englishmen came along, as they had booked the same hostel, and we set off. Honestly, I didn't think the car would actually make it up. The road was practically non-existent, it started pouring rain, we had to make 3 attempts before each steep hill, and the driver had to switch the wheels to 4x4 and back again. Well, we actually made it and arrived at the hostel. It's really in the middle of nowhere but it's beautiful!!!! Fully motivated, we decided to hike up a hill with the 3 guys to watch the sunset. The path was pretty steep and not easy... especially for the two guys who forgot their shoes and decided to walk in flip flops. The situation didn't get any easier when it started pouring rain. At least I had a rain jacket with me, the others only had beer... When we finally reached the top, it was very nice but we didn't see much of the sun. At least we had beer. The cynical, black humor of the Englishmen made the situation about 10000 times funnier. Soaking wet, we returned, changed clothes, and then spent the whole evening/night with the Englishmen/the Dutchman, two Danes, and three American women. English humor tops everything and their travel stories about stupid bets, failed salsa learning attempts, and drunken party nights (English people^^) were by far the funniest we (or at least I) have heard on this trip. That's why we are even sadder that today EVERYONE except us is checking out.
