Sun and fun in Queenstown! 25 degrees and sunshine. The day couldn't have started better. Without having a big plan, we drove to the Skyline this morning to take the 'steepest cable car in the Southern Hemisphere' up to Bob's Peak. At the top, we were at 450 meters high. From here, we had a great view of Queenstown, Lake Wakatipu, and the mountain range 'The Remarkables'. On some days, the mountains are covered in snow, usually when it has rained below. But we gladly do without that because we definitely prefer summer. As mentioned yesterday, there is a lot of fun to be had here. But just watching is somehow boring. So why not go paragliding over this wonderful area... I only had to be convinced for a moment, and it was a Valentine's Day gift... :-) I always thought that was great. So there was no turning back. We can already show you a few photos. There is also a video, but the technology is not available right now. If you're interested, you can watch it with me at home. If you ever have the opportunity, just do it. It's amazing! After my pulse had calmed down a bit, we drove to Kawarau Bridge. In the 80s, the first commercial bungee jumping facility was built on this bridge. Bungee jumping then spread from here to the whole world. Today, I was flying with a paragliding chute at over 600 meters high, but I wouldn't think of throwing myself headfirst from a bridge 91 meters high. We spent the rest of the day at a beautiful part of the lake. The water was about the temperature of the Baltic Sea in the summer. So not exactly bathtub temperature. Tomorrow we will continue to the mountains to the Franz Josef Glacier.
