Enjoyed a hearty breakfast overlooking the sea. Then strolled around New Plymouth, by the way, the first settlers from England were lured here with the promise of good agricultural and pasture land. That was true, but they forgot to mention that the land still needed to be cleared, basic services were not really guaranteed, like childcare, schools, doctors, and supermarkets... 🤣😂, haha, no, the promised land clearing machines or equipment to work the field were not available. The city of New Plymouth is still under construction. In some ways, life was even worse for the settlers here than in their homeland which they had left behind.
We didn't want to leave New Zealand without having a dip in the Tasman Sea. So we did just that, jumped into the fresh water. The beach was made of black sand.
We spent the afternoon at our lodge by the sea, just relaxing.
