Today we leave Toronto and our hostel to start the actual Canada road trip. This means that we can pick up our vehicle. Before we start, we make our pasta in the hostel kitchen as brunch, which we had planned as dinner the day before.
Well nourished and with all our belongings, we make our way back to the airport. There we can pick up our car for the next 25 days. Although we have already booked everything in advance, the representative there tries to sell us all possible insurances and add-ons. When he realizes that he is fighting a losing battle, we receive the papers. Another colleague then shows us our car. Sporty, silver, Dodge Charger ;)
We won't lack space and power. Interestingly, the representative tried to sell us an even bigger one. Probably a bus...
Despite initial difficulties of the navigation system, we find the right road that should lead us southwest to Niagara Falls. After that, our navigation system is also ready. Off we go, the 80km drive from Toronto to Niagara Falls. Doesn't sound far, it isn't. But due to so much traffic, it takes us 3 hours... not exactly my favorite activity to lay roll stops on the highway for several hours. Luckily, we had pasta. And we should be rewarded for this effort.
Arriving in Niagara Falls, we check in at the Best Western. But only briefly, because we finally want to see the famous roaring waters. A leisurely walk takes us to our destination, where at first a somewhat surreal picture is shown. Because the town of Niagara Falls is a second Las Vegas with casinos, buildings complexes, etc. Somehow not what you imagine with this natural phenomenon. But after passing through, we're there: Breathtaking is the best way to describe it...
We really soak up this experience. By the way, we are right on the Canadian-American border. The river separates the USA and Canada. There are even two waterfalls, namely the Horseshoe and the American Falls, which are known together as Niagara Falls.
We don't miss the opportunity to come back in the evening and see the following:
