I woke up in my hammock to the sound of my alarm clock, put on my boots, and packed my wet clothes in my backpack. I walked down to the city with the rising sun. When I arrived at the train station, I wanted to book my reservation for the train to Oslo. The problem was that it was already fully booked, so I made a reservation for the midday train instead. I used the extra time in Bergen for a short walk through the city and hiked to the top of one of the promontories that jut out into the fjord. Afterward, I sat in a cozy cafe and chatted with another backpacker.
At noon, I boarded the train. I was able to relax and enjoy the breathtaking mountain landscape. I saw glaciers, impressive tunnels, and beautiful lakes. After a while, a Spanish woman sat next to me and we talked about psychology - she was a psychologist - and traveling. The journey passed by quickly, and soon we were in Oslo.
In Oslo, I got off the train and met up with a local through Couchsurfing. He invited me for tea in his office, where we discussed the political issues of our time. He was a journalist, had traveled to many countries, and could give me great insight into the geopolitical difficulties. In addition, he organized the Pride parades in Oslo and told me about the terrible attack that happened two months ago in a queer bar during the parades. He was there and seemed deeply affected by the events.
At some point, I told him about my plans to find a campsite, and he liked the idea so much that he decided to join me. Together, we walked to a park that overlooked Oslo and enjoyed a beautiful view of the illuminated city along the way. We set up our camp at a cozy, secluded spot, listened to music, and eventually went to sleep in our tents.
