After the insane traffic along the coastal road of Montenegro, we are compensated by the route around the beautiful bays of Kotor and Risan. We enjoy the drive on small roads with magnificent views of old villages, small harbors, and narrow beaches. The water is crystal clear and surrounded by high mountains. This beautiful area is protected by UNESCO World Heritage.
This changes towards the border with Croatia, where the coast is heavily built up again. Every corner is supposed to bring in money through the many tourists from Serbia, Russia, Poland.....
After three days, we leave Montenegro and cycle to Dubrovnik. We stay there for two days to have time for sightseeing. The walk on the city walls and the old town are very impressive despite the many tourists.
Along the coastal road, we drive to the Peljesac Peninsula. At Ston, we admire the small 'Chinese' wall, which is 5.5 km long. The area is known for its excellent red wine. Of course, we have tested that!
The beautiful bare mountain world means many meters of altitude for us. But every time, we enjoy the fantastic views from above. In Orebic, we rent an apartment for three nights. We make a Sunday trip to Korcula by boat.
