In the evening of June 30th, we arrived in Byron Bay. Most people may know it from the news, as an 18-year-old Belgian went missing here a month ago and has not been found since...
But we won't let that spoil our trip, which we certainly are not 😊. The first day wasn't amazing, as the weather didn't cooperate. We had planned to rent a surfboard here and catch some waves, but that didn't happen because the waves were definitely not suitable for beginners 🤷🏼♀️. So we just wandered around the really beautiful and lively city center and made the best of the situation.
Unfortunately, I didn't feel great from noon onwards and decided to go to bed so as not to end up completely sick. But now I have a pretty annoying cold 🤧 😂.
At least the next day looked much better. I wore shorts and a T-shirt and definitely didn't regret it at 23°C.
I walked along the beach and then took the Coastal Walk to the famous lighthouse in Byron. From up there, you have a great view of Byron Bay and the surrounding beaches. You can even spot whales and a group of dolphins, but also search groups of the police who are still searching the surrounding nature for any signs of hope for Theo.
On the way back, I passed a hang gliding ramp in the middle of the forest, with a magnificent view of the bays, and met Christine and Jeanette there, who took some pictures for their Instagram. They also took some pictures of me, and Christine will send them to me as soon as possible 😍🥰.
After a quick lunch, I spent some time on the beach, soaking up the sun, and then went bowling with Elsa to celebrate her birthday 🎉. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! 😍
Today, on July 3rd, we are back on the bus on our way to Port Macquarie, where the next adventure awaits us.
To be continued... Xo
