The day started a little later for us today... after all, you also want to relax a bit on vacation 🤓✌🏻️. After lunch, we headed to the northwestern part of Kyoto to the Golden Pavilion, also known as Kinkaku-ji. It was built in 1397 as a reliquary hall and was destroyed by arson in 1950. Five years later, the temple was rebuilt.
The special thing about this temple is the two upper floors, which are completely covered with gold leaf on the outside. When the sunlight hits the building, the lake in front of it reflects the light and the temple reveals its true charm.
Tomorrow we will continue to Osaka by Shinkansen 🚅. Goodbye Kyoto and we are already excited to see what awaits us in Osaka 😁🎎🍣
