After leaving Nelson the next day, we continued driving towards Westport. There, we walked along the seaside and came across some sea lions. The next day, we continued north to Karamea, where we visited a cave with quite large spiders. Surprisingly, Robin also ventured into the cave despite his arachnophobia. He showed no signs of fear, except for moving at a snail's pace and shining his light on every centimeter twice.
Afterwards, we returned to Westport where we spent the night, and the next day drove 350 km towards Christchurch. There, I went kiteboarding while Robin played badminton. Unfortunately, I broke a valve, which I now need to repair. However, Robin met a very nice student named Chris while playing badminton. We met up with him the next day.
In the morning, we drove to his flat, from where we drove together with his cousin in Chris' BMW M3 to a café. After breakfast, he took us for a ride and showed us the surroundings of Christchurch. In the afternoon, we went to a pub and enjoyed a beer. It turned into two when one of the flatmates joined us. After the two beers, we were taken through the mall, where we bought more beer at the supermarket to continue drinking at the flat. Jake, one of the flatmates, had self-brewed beer from his father. All in all, it was very fun talking and exchanging stories with the students, both about Germany and other sights in New Zealand. We showed them some carnival music, which they found very amusing. But since Chris and the others had to work the next day, we said goodbye to everyone around 9 pm and went to sleep in the car in front of the house.
