Sore throat is as unnecessary as a pimple on the butt. And unfortunately, non-turn-offable air conditioners don't bring out pimples, only sore throats.
But that won't stop us from hiking the Rainforest trail. The trail consists of 2 circular routes, each about 1.5 km long. And I was already wondering during the preparations what they meant by 731 stairs. Well, now we know.
A narrow wooden bridge leads through a mystical forest with Douglas firs,
Hemlock firs
and Western Red Cedars, which, in terms of size, at least in circumference, resemble the mammoth trees in the Redwoods of Rotorua in New Zealand or the Giant Sequoia trees in Yosemite Park in California.
Ferns grow on the ground, lichens and mosses hang from the tree branches,
forming gardens. Everything is overgrown, fallen trees serve as nutrient-rich soil for new plants. Horsetails and blueberries add to the diversity.
Up and down the stairs, up and down the stairs.
A loop walk for warm-up and the other for thigh and buttock training.
Surprisingly, there are few animals in this rainforest. Not even mosquitoes. Well, they did show up very rarely. And we also saw a squirrel.
Cooldown was then at Long Beach in Tofino. On the way there, a moment of shock. Smoke obscures the view of the road - a forest fire??? But it doesn't smell like fire. When we arrived at the beach, we saw it. Spray all over the beach, even moving onto the road.
Does that actually mean spray? Or Girsch? No, that's a plant, deer is an animal, and flirsch? Well, who knows?
Right, a place in Arlberg, Austria. Schahaatz knew it immediately.
As I said, it was time for a cool down. Schahaatz into the cool water and me down on the mat. The beach is really long, so visitors get lost, even though it's Sunday and many are at the beach with their families. Surf students everywhere. The beach is perfect for learning, as the water is very shallow and the waves are moderate.
Facts:
Long Beach is the largest and longest beach in the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It is located on Wickaninnish Bay between Tofino and Ucluelet. The constant surf makes the 16 km long beach one of the most popular surfer beaches.
Did I mention that I have a sore throat?
But we still have to eat, whether with a sore throat or without. After some parts of our toned bodies have undergone a color change, we head to Tofino for Lil' Ronnie's backyard BBQ. Delicious brisket
and ribs. 😋😋.
It's a good thing the waitress asked if we want 1 lbs. (453g) or 1/2 lbs. My portion of ribs wouldn't have minded, but 1 lbs. of brisket is really a lot. So we ordered the small portions. It was enough.
With that, Schahaatz had a lager and I drank a super sour homemade lemonade that I had to make drinkable with half a liter of water, soooo sour.
