In the morning, a special event awaited us for breakfast: not a high-quality breakfast from our landlady, but a charity breakfast at the local volunteer fire station. This breakfast takes place every Saturday, and to support the community, our guesthouse invites guests to this charity breakfast.
It is about 100 meters from our hotel to the fire station, which of course we walked. And we were probably the only ones: the street in front of the fire station was full of parked cars because everyone else came by car!
The atmosphere was great, and Nicole even saw Tom Selleck's double! Unfortunately, I cannot post the photo for data protection reasons (Nicole did not dare to ask for his consent to publish his super mustache), but whoever wants can look at it on her phone after our vacation.
By the way, for breakfast there were pancakes, French toast, bacon, and little fat balls called "sausages" here.
Strengthened like this, we took the shuttle bus to the "Walking Day" in Acadia National Park.
The first trip took us to the coast, along a hiking trail lined with thick rocks and cliffs.
George Clooney actually crossed our path here...
The landscape is incredible, you could fill a whole memory card with photographs..
No animals to be seen though. But suddenly a man appeared and offered to take us to a bald eagle for only ten dollars.
We naturally accepted the offer.
I was just surprised that the eagle is so small and has no claws.
Probably a young bird. Or a "handicapped Eagle"....
The second trip took us to a lake, where we walked along its northern side.
Afterwards, Aaron couldn't be convinced to walk any further. We ate in Bar Harbor, the main town of the national park, and then took the shuttle back to the hotel.
In the evening, Aaron persuaded us to go with him to the "Pirate's Golf". It's a miniature golf course that has been built in a pirate setting.
Here we managed to amaze the Americans:
On a hole where the hole was behind a small bump, Aaron hit the ball right on that bump.
Then I hit the ball so skillfully (or strangely) that it flew over Aaron's ball and landed directly in the hole. The employee who happened to be there was so impressed that Aaron and I were allowed to play another round at the end. Of course, for free...
Afterwards, we went home and to bed. We have to get up early tomorrow because we're going to Canada!
By the way, one of the stories I wrote today is true. Guess which one...
