On Tuesday we happily drove on to Sagres in the Algarve. Before that there was an inland stop in Évora. There are the ruins of a Roman temple and a bone chapel decorated with skeletons. Of course we didn't want to miss that.
This time we immediately found a parking space and set out to explore the historical town centre. Évora really is a beautiful city, with narrow streets and interesting buildings, and the Bone Chapel was really worth seeing and spooky at the same time.
Then we continued our journey along the Algarve coast to Sagres. Here, too, you can take a normal route to the campsite, or like us, over hill and dale where it feels like a camper van has never driven 😀 . After setting up the tent 🏕️ and looking around, we had to realize that there is NOTHING here... The beach is said to be 1 km away (it was more like 5). That's how we ended the day and made the plan to drive the WoMo to the lighthouse in the most south-western part of Europe the next day. As we drove off we noticed, shit the tree next to us is full of ants and thousands were crawling along the outside of the driver's side and some had already found their way inside (days later we're still finding some). First hand brush, the girls were screaming (hey, I thought they were Waldorf children) and so we adults took care of the little critters. A short time later we were finally able to leave.. 10 minutes drive along the coast to our destination.
When we arrived it was a bit windy and we only saw sand... but of course the cult snack bar "Last Bratwurst Before America" did it for us immediately and we strengthened ourselves first. After that the skies cleared up a bit and we headed towards the cliffs and used our selfie stick for the first time on this trip. Since then, the photos have also gotten better ;-)
But what should we do here for another 2 days?! Besides watching ants, the beach, which was not 1 km away, was more for surfers 🏄♀️ and not for us. In addition, we only had around 20 degrees. Almost too cold for us, below 30 degrees we are freezing now 😂.
On the way to the campsite, Elisa and Steffi kept seeing signs on the motorway saying Zoo Marine. Cindy and I took a quick look on the internet and bought tickets for the next two days. Now find something to stay overnight. Cindy had found a great campsite about 300 meters away and they also had something available for us. The children and we were very happy.
The next morning everyone got up early and without a fuss, everyone had their tasks and nobody felt that the HüBo's had left the campsite. Come on girls.
