On your marks, campers, go 2.0. Fully packed, we make our way to the train station. From there, we head to Mighty (our rental car company) where we pick up our camper for the next few weeks. Once again, a little disoriented, we try to find the right bus station. Just like the New Zealanders, the Australians are very helpful and willingly show us the way.
Since we checked in on Mighty's website the night before, we can pick up our car right away. A quick look reveals that this time we can expect a bit more space inside. A brief glance confirms the suspicion: 2 burners, kettle, microwave, and a bed where you can stretch out your legs!! It can't get any better. Or can it? It can! Because our all-inclusive package also includes a navigation system, camping chairs, and the corresponding table. After enjoying our meals sitting on the ground in New Zealand, chairs and a table are the best thing that could have happened to us.
Enough raving... Since the weather is also not at its best today, we drive. Drive, go shopping, drive. In the evening, we decide to visit a free campsite in Bulahdelah. The local golf club has opened its parking lot to the camping public. We cook noodles and enjoy the view of the golf course. But we're not the only ones enjoying the green. The kangaroos also seem to be excited. About 20 of them watch the golfers teeing off or search for something to eat in the area.
Conclusion of the first day with the new camper: Great car, good equipment, delicious food and saw kangaroos. Successful day! Let's keep it up.
