This leg of my journey actually didn't start in Zurich, but in Munich. Lukas picked me up from the airport there. Something really cool was happening that weekend – a Coldplay concert! On Saturday morning, we spent some time shopping for me because my backpack unfortunately didn't make it to Munich, and in the afternoon we visited the BMW World. Then we headed back to the hotel to get ready for the concert, and off we went. It was simply breathtaking and truly beautiful! The atmosphere was wonderful, and I just enjoyed the evening. On Sunday, after breakfast, we drove to Salzburg to pay Ruby a surprise visit! Oh, that was such a lovely moment; once we had all gathered together, we went into the city. Later, there was another surprise visit planned, back home. Since this was all coordinated only between Lukas, Marie, and me, nobody else had any idea. Accordingly, the surprise and joy were immense on all sides. I then spent the rest of the week relaxing at home and making a few more surprise visits. Finally, on Friday, my backpack arrived! On Tuesday morning, my journey finally continued. I boarded the train in Salzburg at 6 am and got off in Zurich at noon. There, I also tried something completely new – Couchsurfing. My first host even picked me up from the train station, and we walked together to his apartment. Just 2 minutes away from Lake Zurich – what more could one want? I immediately took a walk there before heading into the city. In the city center, I checked out some attractions. However, I quickly realized that I remember it very differently from when I was last there as a child. Zurich seemed like a large city to me back then, but now it doesn’t feel any bigger than Salzburg. In the evening, I watched the sunset at Lake Zurich. The entire lakeside promenade was filled with people, and the atmosphere was simply lovely. I spent the rest of the evening chatting with my Kiwi host on the couch. The next day, I started off leisurely by the lake with a swim. I spent the entire morning there in comfort until I later made my way back into the city. There, I met up with a friend I had met during my trip with Antonia. In the afternoon, I was shown and explained the city from a local's viewpoint. After seeing some really cool viewpoints, we then headed along the Limmat back into the city. We spent the rest of the afternoon by the lake, and I enjoyed observing the surroundings and the people while we chatted. Later, when I was back at the train station, I met someone else who I had met during my journey, this time from New Zealand. We enjoyed ice cream by the lake and exchanged our travel stories. I spent the rest of the evening again chatting with my host on the couch. The next morning also started again by the lake, of course. Later, I brought my backpack to the hostel for the night. I then headed back into the city and got some lunch, which I enjoyed in the sun at the park. One last walk through the city where we found a bookstore completely filled with travel guides and travel books – a real dream for me! If the weather outside hadn't been so incredibly beautiful, I probably wouldn't have been brought out until evening. Since it was quite hot, we spent the afternoon at the Limmat, which was filled with people but provided a really good cool down. I enjoyed my dinner by the lake at sunset before making my way back to the hostel. With a beautiful sunrise, it was off to the bus and on to the next country. I really got to love Zurich for its vibrancy and friendliness! 🫶🏼
