Tea-Making & Wen Wu Temple

Julkaistu: 04.10.2017

I am taking the 'Cultural Learning' course at the university, which includes three excursions. The first excursion took place last Saturday. After a 90-minute drive, we arrived at Sun Moon Lake, where we could visit the Wen Wu Temple. It is one of the largest and most beautiful temples I have ever seen. From the back of the temple, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Sun Moon Lake.

We had lunch at the Dumpling Restaurant, which we already knew. We ordered all kinds of dumplings so that everyone could try everything. Before it was time to continue our journey, we enjoyed the Sun Moon Lake with coffee/tea, which resembles Switzerland a bit.

In the afternoon, we were able to make our own tea. We went to the tea garden 'Hugosum', which is not far from Sun Moon Lake. First, we had to roll the tea leaves with the heel of our hand for 20 minutes. Then, the leaves were dried in the oven for 40 minutes. In the meantime, we could taste the famous Taiwanese black tea. I found it delicious, even though I don't usually drink black tea straight. The dried leaves were now ready to be packaged, and everyone received their own tea canister. The actual tea production process takes much longer, about 2 days.

And then it was time to return home... another successful day that flew by.
