5th July: Gloføykvatnet and Blueberries

Julkaistu: 22.07.2020

Since the Hurtigruten was not running, I could sleep in - which I didn't. I sneaked into the living room to not wake anyone up and sat by the window with my bowl of muesli. From there, I stared at the empty fjord, observed the steep cliff of Hornelen (by the way, the mountain is associated with the Brocken in the Harz mountains, the witches would visit each other).

When Gro was up, we decided to take advantage of the good weather and hike to the lake on the hill behind the house, Gloføykjevatnet. There she also showed me the summer pasture where her mother used to milk the cows and where German soldiers would occasionally visit - and leave a nice impression. Unfortunately, the house was already falling apart.

On the way back, we saw blueberry bushes and we snacked a bit - usually the berries only ripen at the end of July/beginning of August. Back at the house, it was drizzling, but I still wanted to pick some berries for dessert and Gro handed me a blueberry picker. In the rain, I walked through chest-high grass and on my way back, I startled a female deer.

The rest of the day it poured with rain and we spent it with a good book on the sofa.
