Despite the heavy traffic in Hanoi, everything is always flowing here, so our driver Toang was already punctual at the hotel in the morning and we started right away towards the mountains after picking up our guide Vang.
After about a 3-hour drive halfway, we took a short break for lunch. Shortly after, Toang dropped us off on the side of the road and we took a walk to the next village in the sunshine to stretch our legs a bit.
Since we were lucky with the traffic and got through well, we were able to hike the last kilometers to our accommodation through the jungle in the afternoon and enjoy the first fantastic views.
Today we stayed in a typical stilt house in a dormitory. The individual sleeping places can be separated by curtains into private areas and offer surprisingly much privacy. Significantly more than in most hostels.
We still had some time until dinner and took a little walk around the village Tha. However, it was already dark by now, so there wasn't much to see.
The dinner consisted of local dishes, most of which were directly from the garden of our accommodation or at least from the village, and tasted excellent. Only the banana blossoms were not quite to our taste. There was also homemade corn 'wine', which, as it turned out later, had about 45% alcohol. Even our guide was a bit surprised. One round after another was poured and we also toasted with our host, so the ice was quickly broken and we had a cozy and fun evening.
