Early in the morning at 6 o'clock the bus arrived in Hue. Checking into the hostel was not possible, although it would have been nice to lay down and sleep for another 2-3 hours. But at least I could have breakfast at the hostel. After that, I hopped on a scooter and set out to explore the area.
The breeze awakened my spirits and I made my first stop at the tomb of an emperor. I was pretty much alone here early in the morning and had plenty of space to look at everything. The tomb was in a large park adorned with smaller temples.
However, I have to be honest and say that the place did not really convince me, so I quickly continued on.
My second stop was at another tomb. But this one already looked much more impressive from the outside, with its black stone and built into the mountain. The statues and decorations here were much more beautiful than at the first tomb. But even here, I had seen everything after half an hour.
So I went to a hidden gem that I had heard about this morning in my hostel. In Hue, there is a water park that has been out of operation for several years since it went bankrupt, but the entire infrastructure is still more or less intact. As so-called "lost places" always interested me, I didn't want to miss this one. In the middle of a lake, you could still see the remains of a once magnificent bathing island. When entering the island and looking out from the top, you could imagine how it must have been here in the past. It must have been a cozy place.
In the back, you could still see the remains of several water slides and wading pools.
From the swimming lake, I went back to the city where I wanted to visit a pagoda.
But I had to realize that lately I had already seen almost too many temples and I couldn't really get excited about the beauty during the visit.
By now it was already noon and I didn't want to visit the old imperial city in the hottest part of the afternoon, so I hopped back on my scooter and headed to the beach, which is slightly outside of Hue. After the morning sightseeing, I definitely deserved a few hours at the beach. When I arrived at the beach, I was a bit surprised. I was completely alone. Apparently not many tourists come here. Well, that's fine with me. I found a little hut where I could lay in the shade and enjoyed a swim in the sea.
As it was getting dark, I drove back to my hostel to check in. I decided to only stay one night and continue my journey tomorrow, as I believe I have seen everything in Hue.
