Yesterday I was in Gdynia. The 'Tricity' consists of Gdansk, Sopot, and Gdynia. In Gdynia, there is a large port where everything important happens. Containerships, ferries, and the occasional cruise ship dock there. However, I didn't visit the section with the long-haul ferries and cruise ships. I'm not a fan of the city center either - there is no pedestrian zone. I will definitely take a closer look at the large promenade with exhibition ships another time. The buildings are mostly in the Bauhaus style (according to Wikipedia, I'm not really familiar with it) - it's not my cup of tea.
Mainly and at the beginning, I was at the cliffs that can already be seen from Gdansk. There is a section of the beach that goes around the cliff. Well, almost, in one part you have to walk on a concrete pier or use a dirt path. The beach there is not classically 'beautiful', but rocky, gravelly, sandy, and narrow. But I often like that more than traditional beaches. Luckily, the sun was shining constantly on that day, and it was not too cold. A nice long walk by the water and trees - is there anything better?
So, I already had about 4-5km behind me when I reached the actual city. I walked a lot - that's good, I could break in my new hiking shoes. Because on Monday, I'm going to Alesund, Norway - there will definitely be hiking!
