Rotorua and Maori culture

Avaldatud: 02.02.2020

Rotorua and its hot pools, geysers, mud pools, and Maori culture. We are right in the middle of it and it constantly smells like rotten eggs, which initially bothers the children but they quickly forget about it. The hissing and bubbling is always impressive, even though the geysers at Waio Tapu Wonderland were very disappointing, supposedly because of the wrong soap and little rain, it didn't even hiss for a minute. We had promised the kids much more, 10 years ago it hissed for at least 20 minutes. In Whakarewarewa, the Maori village, time has almost stood still, life is being continued as it was during our last visit and for lunch we had the same delicious Hangi and some of the dancers were still the same. The kids are impressed by how the food is cooked and how far Maoris can roll their eyes and stick out their tongues.
