On Thursday I set off from the peninsula to Austria. Drive through once to Salzburg. The mountains could be seen everywhere, it looked so beautiful. For me these are huge mountains, for others they are probably small hills.
What I was most looking forward to was hopefully no more mosquitoes. The stitches on my body are enough for now. After being on the road for about 6 hours, I finally arrived at the campsite. The weather app said it would still be 30 degrees and sunny today and a lot of rain starting tomorrow at 17 degrees. So let's go and explore the city a little, the bus drove 15 minutes to the old town. I just followed the crowd and suddenly found myself in front of Mozart's birthplace and many other beautiful little streets. I let myself drift a bit and was here and there.
The next morning I got the Salzburg Card so I could look at various museums and sights cheaply. First I went to Mozart's house. Cool, there's an app and you can have everything explained to you via headphones. The aunt talked and talked and I always thought, strange, I clearly don't see it all the way she explained it. What can I say, Mozart's home & birthplace was all in one app and I chose the wrong one 🤣 no wonder it didn't fit. So I chose the right one, and now I understood everything... then I bought a sweater. It was so cold and I didn't have any long pants, a sweater or a jacket. I was also in the south and it's always warm there, that's my thoughts. I also went to Mozart's birthplace. It was nice to have seen, heard and read all of this. If anyone would like to know anything, feel free to ask.
I also took the train up to the fortress. It felt like it was a fast track. She was going so fast, you had to really hold on. It slowly started to drizzle and it was already quite cool at the top, but you had a nice view over Salzburg.
Later I went back down and ended up in the middle of Oktoberfest. Large marquee and lots of rides around it. The rain became more and more intense and at some point I didn't feel like it anymore. I then went to the cathedral palace but that wasn't really my thing.
What else should I write. It just rained. Sometimes less, sometimes more. That was really more fun. I then drove to the motorhome and ended the evening with the rain on the mobile.
The next morning it continued to rain and I decided I'd head home... what should I do all day and in the evening playing football in 12 degrees I'll just freeze my ass off. So I set off for Hamburg. I have no idea whether I'll drive the 970 km in one go or whether I'll spontaneously spend the night somewhere. After 11 hours of driving without traffic jams, I arrived home. My girls welcomed me with sparklers and now I have to settle in again.
It was a great 3 months (it felt like 6, which is positive). I am grateful for everything I was able to experience, the time and experiences were unique. I am so grateful to be able to do this. Even if it was physically exhausting at times because things weren't going well at home. Still, I tried to enjoy it. I hope I can keep pulling from this for a long time.
With that in mind, I will conclude this travel blog with this.
I just say “Carpe Diem” – enjoy the day.
