Squamish 2 - Shannon Falls and Sea to Sky

Good morning 🙂 Slept very well 😊 Breakfast right in front of our cabin: muesli with fruits and coffee, along with Nutella toast. By the way, Nutella is available here in plastic jars 😅 It's a bit cooler this morning than yesterday.
We are currently getting tips from home for attractions in BC from many sides. Thank you for that 🫶
We are planning our route for today.
Best idea for today: park at the lower end of the Shannon Falls waterfalls and not at the gondola 😅 costs nothing. We walk past the Shannon Falls waterfall towards the Sea to Sky gondola. We spontaneously decide at the valley station to make a hiking tour up instead of buying a day pass. This way, we save 110 dollars 😅 7.5km uphill with 885 meters of elevation gain on foot over stones, trees, and roots. It has become sooo warm by now and the elevation gain is quite considerable(!), so Benny continues without a t-shirt. We observe a woodpecker in action and a feeding squirrel 🐿- this time quick enough with the camera 😅 Past the upper end of the Shannon Falls (clearly cooler than from below) all the way up to the upper gondola station. We refresh ourselves briefly (we see a hummingbird - at least we think it was one 😅), cross a suspension bridge, and spontaneously take another short climbing round to enjoy the amazing view on the other side of the mountain. For the way down, we use the gondola this time - with 2 new t-shirts in our luggage #merch 😊🐻 a short walk back to our free parking space at the valley station - then we enjoy burritos and ice-cold cola again 😇 Thanks to Thilo and Jana for this brilliant tip with the cooler.
On the way back, we buy a few more small items at Walmart and are then fascinated by the prices for alcoholic beverages in Canada... 😳 36 dollars for a bottle of wine... Spirits mostly cost 3 to 4 times what they do in Germany. We settle for a few beers and a gin and tonic (raspberry) 😅
After this fantastic day in the mountains, we end the evening with ice cream (Ben&Jerry's and Häagen Dazs are amusingly cheaper than in Germany!) and plan for the next day 😉
We want to continue from Whistler towards Kamloops. Good night😴
