Summer Release 2026

Summer at Vakantio is here!

From VakantioMay 2026

Vakantio Premium, automatic travel timelines, videos in posts, GPX routes and a new blog design — all now available on Vakantio.

At the beginning of the year, we asked ourselves what travel bloggers really need. Not through surveys, but through conversations: Why do you do this? What holds you back? What's missing? The answers have kept us busy for the past few months.

The result: a subscription model for those who want to take their blog more seriously, and a range of features that transform a travel blog into a true travel documentary. If you haven't been on Vakantio for a while—here's what to expect.

Vakantio Premium: Even more for you

Since April, Vakantio Premium and Pro have been available. Those who want to run their blog more seriously gain access to features that we previously only used internally — from travel timelines to videos and GPX routes.

  • Travel timelineAll your trips on one map, with an organized list of related posts. Vakantio reads your posts and automatically recognizes where you've been — no manual input required.
  • Video uploadVideos are uploaded directly to the post gallery, next to the photos. Same upload process, no extra steps required.
  • GPX routesUpload a .gpx file and it will appear as an interactive map in the post — ideal for hiking, cycling and road trips.
  • Unlimited imagesThe free account is limited to 20 images per post. Premium removes this limit.
  • Private blogHide from public feeds and search results. Followers must first send a request.
  • Turn off commentsPer post or for the entire blog. A toggle switch is available in the settings.
  • Pros: multiple blogs and planned postsThose who subscribe to Pro can run more than one blog, duplicate posts, and schedule publications for a future date.

Premium und Pro sind ab sofort verfügbar.

Your travels, automatically recognized

Vakantio automatically reads every post. It recognizes where you've been, where you've slept, and how you traveled—and displays this information as a bar directly below the post text. No manual input, no tags. Just write as usual.

  • ArrivalThe flight route automatically appears as a chip — for example, Munich to Palma. Train journeys and ferry connections are also recognized.
  • AccommodationName, platform and number of nights, if you mention them in the text — for example: Finca Sa Pedra, Airbnb, 3 nights.
  • CitiesAll visited locations in the correct order, linked to the Vakantio destination page.
  • Trips tabA dedicated tab on each blog displays all trips as a visual timeline — map plus an organized list of posts per trip.

GPX routes in posts

Upload a .gpx file along with your photos. The route will appear as an interactive map directly in the post — with distance, elevation profile and all waypoints.

Videos directly in the post

Premium blogs can now upload videos—inline within the gallery, alongside the photos. No separate upload, no link to YouTube. The video is integrated into the post, exactly where it belongs.

A new blog design

The blog header has a new look. A large cover image is at the top, followed by a clean bar with the avatar, blog name, and follow button. Navigation tabs display the number of posts at a glance—up to 900 pixels wide on desktop.

  • Cover imageA custom cover image at the top of the blog page, with rounded corners — looks like a separate publication.
  • Follow blogThe follow button is now directly in the header bar. Visitors without an account can follow via email—a single click on the magic link is all it takes.
  • Live positionA small location badge shows where the blogger is currently located — derived from the latest geocoded post of an active trip.

Your content belongs to you.

There is now an export button in the blog settings. It creates a ZIP file containing all posts in HTML and JSON format, all uploaded media, and a signed download link that is valid for seven days. No vendor lock-in.
