As in previous days, we were awakened by the rooster from the neighboring zoo at five o'clock with its crowing, which amused us a bit. Who would think that one could be woken up by a rooster on Waikiki Beach in the morning?
Today we headed to the Sans Souci-Kaimana Beach Park after breakfast. It was a short walk, not far at all. The beach was designated as an alternative to other snorkeling beaches that were further away.
The beach is perfect for families with (small) children, as it has nice fine sand and no rocks to make walking difficult. Thus, many families were there this Sunday. It had a bit of a Smaland character... A little further out, it was possible to snorkel, and one could spot a few yellow or black fish. There was also a sea turtle that seemed to be claiming its territory there. Thorsten discovered it and followed it a little. Whether it was the same turtle from yesterday at the beach section a bit further towards Waikiki… we don’t know. It didn’t seem to recognize Thorsten, as it didn’t give him a Hi-Five…;-)
While we were still roasting in the sun, canoes or kayaks (some with outriggers) arrived, seemingly having a competition. They came in flocks from the south to the beach, which was marked by various colored buoys that indicated the path or the destination.
There was a big welcome for all the arrivals. There were different formations as they landed. Sometimes in pairs, sometimes in fours, or even in sixes.
We stayed in this section for a while, watching the colorful activity. Around noon, we left the children's paradise and returned to the beach from the previous day. Too many children...
Today, we wanted to be at the “Sun-Downer-Place” before sunset to experience the full beauty of the sunset. The conditions were perfect. Initially, there were no clouds on the horizon, but later two cloud streaks appeared. But that also makes for a nice picture.
