BBQ le Chicago - Weber Grill Nuɖuɖudzraƒe

Wotae: 12.03.2017

We learned from Marc, the guide of the boat tour, that hot dogs, burgers, and Italian beef are supposed to be very good in Chicago, while BBQ is not really a highlight of the city.

The Weber Grill Restaurant is located about a 10-minute walk away from our hotel. Grill enthusiasts are certainly familiar with this name.

The interior was stylish and representative of the Weber Grill brand.

The service was very friendly and attentive. We each ordered a half slab of ribs with Weber Hickory BBQ sauce, along with the prescribed side dishes: coleslaw, baked beans, and cornbread. Additionally, I ordered a portion of brisket.

From the server, we learned that the ribs are prepared using the 3-2-1 method (3 hours of smoking, 2 hours of steaming with apple juice, and another hour in the smoker while the ribs are brushed with BBQ sauce). The brisket was smoked for a total of 12 hours.

The food was promptly served. It looked very delicious, so we immediately dug into the ribs with our fingers. Steffi found them to be tasty, while I thought they were just okay. The brisket had a nice smoke ring, but it was unfortunately a bit cold and dry. The beans were flavorful, the salad was good, but the cornbread didn't taste great. All in all, we were very satiated by the large portion.

My conclusion: Excellent service and ambiance, average food. Overall, I had hoped for a bit more from the restaurant's reputation...
