Our journey continued through beautiful purple meadows through the Little Karoo, which currently doesn't look like a desert but rather like a green and colorful pasture landscape. Four weeks ago it was still sandy, dusty and desolate semi-desert here. At lunchtime we passed the van Loveren winery on the "African Route 66" where we had booked a wine tasting. We sipped three white and two red wines with delicious springbok carpaccio and a huge plate of salad. At 5:30 p.m., with slightly cloudy clouds gathering, we reached Cape Town, our destination on this wonderful stage of the journey. We immediately went up to Table Mountain, where we had a fabulous view of the largest South African city at sunset.
Storms have been raging on South Africa's coasts for days and tonight they reached Cape Town.
