Lost City

The Lost City Track is a four-day hike to the Lost City (Ciudad Perdida).

On the first day, we were picked up by the bus and drove to the last accessible village. There we had lunch together. After that, we received a brief introduction on how the first two days would go.

The first stretch was the shortest but also the most challenging. We all arrived at the first camp pretty exhausted and were grateful for the jump into the nearby river. After dinner, we went to bed.

By 6 a.m. the next morning, we were already on the move again. This stretch was fortunately less steep but twice as long. During lunch, we were able to explore our camp for the third night. In the evening, we reached the last camp before the Lost City. We celebrated surviving the second day with popcorn and tea.

At 6 a.m. in the morning, we started climbing the 1020 steps to reach our destination. Our guides showed us the four most famous and accessible places and gave us some information about the two out of four tribes living in the Sierra Nevada.

Too soon, it was time to head back. Climbing the steps was exhausting but nothing compared to going downhill. Some places were wet and we had to be careful not to slip. But we all made it back to camp unharmed, just in time for lunch. We reached our final camp pretty early in the evening.

In the morning, as usual, we got ready at 6 a.m. for the last day. Looking back, I would probably describe it as the most exhausting day because we had another long stretch of ups and downs ahead of us. Exhausted and tired, we reached the end point of our hike around noon. On the drive back, everyone started dozing off.
