Texas BBQ

Saturday, 01.07.17, there's not much to tell. Tour handover, paperwork, documents, etc. Dinner in a regular restaurant in the evening, standard.

Sunday, 02.07.17: Waking up with the sun, which means it will be warm today. And it was. 34 degrees, high humidity, just right. The day kind of passed by, still some organizational things to take care of. Tomorrow the first tour flies home, and they wanted to have BBQ as a final meal. I was supposed to choose a place. I did, several options, but already at home days ago. The final choice was not difficult, since they wanted to leave at 8.00pm and all the places - except one - closed at 9.00pm. So we went to the

dive from the outside,

but it’s supposed to be a hidden gem. Amazing interior, rustic is an understatement. Here, worn cowboy boots are placed in the window frames, the floor is occasionally hosed down, and you can eat in seating benches that I still remember from school.

Small, but essential menu, ribs, pulled pork, brisket, sausage.
The homemade BBQ sauce is served in used Corona bottles on a hot plate - very cool, sometimes that's all you need.
Simply order what you want.

I ordered the combo with 3 types of meat and 2 sides; of course, I wanted to try as much BBQ as possible. What can I say?!

THE bomb!!! The meat is incredibly smoky.

Every type of meat. The whole place already smells like a bonfire on the adventure playground. The guys have been here for 6 weeks now, but this place was actually the best. There was some disappointment that only the small combo was ordered, but that quickly disappeared as what was chosen turned out to be quite nutritious and, thanks to the sides, ended up being a full meal. Like I said, it's the bomb!!! We will definitely come back here!

Starting tomorrow, work will also begin. Let's see where the routes take us. See you later.
