Day 141-143 Cold & rainy days to Esperance

After the rainy & cold day at Rottnest Island and with a look into the weather forecast we decided it is a good idea to go shopping for some warm clothes in Perth. Stuart was disappointed about the weather and happy to just eat Cafe Gelato and enjoy the Fremantle Sunset.

The drive to Esperance via the inland route would have been over 700km, so we planed an overnight stop at the coast. The drive to this overnight stop in Walepole was the coldest and most rainy day during this trip. So although we were driving more or less the Jarrahdale wildflower trail, we were doing only a few stops to take photos of wildflowers whenever there was for a few minutes no rain. We also stopped at the Diamond Tree, but you cannot climb it anymore for a good lookout even in good weather. On the way we also came through Bridgetown where Stuart discovered a sign saying "Fridge Town" and totally agreed to this.

Our overnight stay was at a lovely campground just ahead of Walepole at a lake. Unfortunately the weather was still very bad, so we could not enjoy the views on the lake with the pelicans as well as the kangaroos on the golf course, campground and around as with good weather. Luckily the accommodation provided a heater as well as heating blankets for the night, which were desperately needed with more rain during the night. On the next day, we drove on along the coast to Esperance, but with all the time rain, wind and the cold temperatures we were not tempted to visit any of the beach detours but drove straight on to Esperance, only stopping a few times for some quick wildflower photos.
