29th/30th June 2018: I have long wanted to visit Quedlinburg and admire the old half-timbered houses there. So we stopped there for an overnight stay. The town offers an incomparable medieval atmosphere. There are numerous small alleys to admire between beautifully restored half-timbered houses, which are rightly protected as a World Heritage site by UNESCO. In the evening, we enjoyed an incredibly good city tour by the motivated night watchman. This tour had a unique charm, because after the sun had set, the small alleyways and the lighting seemed like out of a movie or a foreign world. The next day, we wandered through the city and visited the Münzberg (formerly home to thieves and musicians, today a densely built mountain with tiny cozy houses).
