As we had planned two days in Rotorua, today we went to the Kiwi breeding station. If you are already in the land of Kiwis and have little chance of seeing one in the wild, we thought we should at least get a glimpse of one. On the way there, we walked through a park with many steaming hot springs and mud pools (in the middle of the city, of course, including the smell of sulfur).
Thanks to the guided tour, we also had the opportunity to see Kiwis. Since they are nocturnal, unfortunately we cannot take pictures of them, but still a great experience.
Through the back entrance, we sneaked into the Rainbow Springs (saved 35€). A small nature park to look at reptiles, fish, and birds. Free and quite cool, but never worth the overpriced entrance fee.
