White sandy beach, turquoise blue water, a bungalow right by the sea - how long have we been waiting for this - finally in paradise.
It may sound incomprehensible to some, but at some point you also need a vacation from traveling. 5 weeks of sightseeing every day, always something new to see, wandering from one accommodation to another and from one place to another. This is not a complaint, but just to show that traveling, the way we do it, can also be exhausting in the long run if you don't take a break now and then. So here is the break...
Off the south coast of Cambodia, there are a few small islands. Koh Rong is the big brother of Koh Rong Samloem. Koh Rong is much more developed, more touristy, louder and busier than Samloem.
So we decided to go for the little sister, to completely relax for once.
Normally, we both don't like to just lie on the beach and do nothing. I usually get bored after half a day and start annoying Luki. But this time, dear ones, this time we enjoyed doing absolutely nothing for 3 days!
After about an hour's boat ride, you reach the island and can't believe your eyes. We have never seen such turquoise blue water and such a bright white sandy beach. We were the only ones getting off at our stop and a small nutshell from our accommodation was already waiting for us at the pier, which then took us directly to our bungalow. We were beaming with joy and couldn't believe how beautiful it is here. Our bungalow had glass walls that were mirrored, so we could look out but no one could look in. So every morning we woke up and had a direct view of the beach and the sea from our bed.
On the island, there are no roads or paved paths. So no cars or scooters either. Furthermore, everything here is absolutely not crowded, and during a walk on the beach, you rarely come across anyone.
Otherwise, our days consisted of lying on the beach chair, jumping into the water, watching small crabs roll their sand balls, kayaking, dancing in the rain in the evening, as the rainy season is just beginning, eating, taking small beach walks, and sleeping. This is how you can relax.
Koh Rong Samloem, you are a beautiful and dreamy spot on earth, and we hope that you will remain undeveloped and uncrowded.
