Well-rested, enjoyed a hearty breakfast, and packed our daypack, we drove to the car park at the northern point of the national
parks. Last time, we hiked through the southern part, so this time we focused on the northern part.
Abel Tasman, one of the most beautiful national parks in New Zealand, lives up to its promise. Bays like in the Caribbean or the Maldives, hidden beaches, bathing seals, and beautiful hiking trails, there is so much to discover.
The loop to the beach and back over the mountain was marked as 9.5 hours. After many photo stops, lunch at the beach, and a rather chilly swim in the sea, we made it back to the car after 7 hours with our trained legs. Pretty exhausted but happy, we took the road over the pass to Motueka.
