We stay at the campsite for two nights. The next morning the weather is better than expected. Nevertheless, it rains in the afternoon.
We want to go to Matera, the most famous city in southern Italy. At the Cartodromo parking space, Gianfranco welcomes us with warm German, a travel guide and the offer to drive us into the city. Which of course we do. The weather doesn't make us happy today. It's cold, windy and gray.
But Matera is really great. Living spaces carved into rocks, intricate paths and streets and always beautiful views. No wonder it is a UNESCO heritage site. It's a shame it's so cold. And so little is open. We miss that, this Italian life, the bars, the restaurants, being outside...
In the evening Gianfranco drives us to the in-spot for evening photos. When we say it was super nice, he just says, it's not super nice, it's super awesome. 😂😂
