A bɔra kɛnɛ kan: 09.03.2023
Now we have been preparing for this journey for years and have carved the date, 24.04.2023, in stone. And yet, the joy grows every day, but also the certainty that when we set sail, our beloved Kandel will not see us for a long time.
I don't want to exaggerate, we will be back in 3 months, but our Gustav will remain 1400 km away on the Spanish coast, because next year the journey through the Mediterranean will continue, provided the breath of the Gulf of Lion's lion has not impressed us so much that we run away again and return to the safety of the inland.
The journey actually started years ago, and here's a little anecdote.
When we set sail with our Gustav for the first time, we were standing on the bank in Mainz. Gustav, polished over many hours during the summer, was shining on the jetty in the waters of the Rhine.
Heike and I looked at each other.... So if we set sail now, we have to dock again in the home port in Erfelden.
For me, it was the first time I stood at the helm as captain, Heike already had more experience with her fiery arrow, at least she had the license to drive Gustav.
We passed the junction of the Old Rhine at the northern tip and arrived in Worms. We had to obey the advanced time of day and turn back. In Erfelden, we enter the Kandel, and of course, there were still some people in the harbor.
Why don't you turn on your position lights!
Well, after the 10th attempt at the jetty, we were dragged into the box with combined forces.
Thanks again to everyone who supported us back then and from now on.
We love you,
Heike and Roland
